Akman Construction is Manitoba’s first and only builder dedicated to Construction Management (CM). We have been fully committed to CM delivery for over 40 years, since Richard Akman pioneered a better way to build in the 1980s.
Construction management is the discipline of organizing and managing resources to complete projects within the defined scope, quality, time, and cost constraints set by the team, which includes the owner, designer, and builder. CM provides utmost transparency to the owner, and more than any other delivery model, orients the entire team to work in the client’s interest at all times.
As a pure CM firm, Akman is unencumbered by potential conflicting interests or opacity of own-forces work. We emphasize open communication and develop mutual trust as the foundation for all projects. CM accommodates changes to the project, whether planned or unforeseen, at a minimum cost.

Akman Construction insists on safety first. We maintain that a clean job is a safe job. Providing a safe environment for the workers is directly reflected in the quality of work performed. Akman is proud to be COR certified. Our unmatched reputation for safety performance has resulted in one of the lowest rates with respect to WCB in the industry. Our personnel have had no lost-time accidents in over 20 years.

Supporting our industry and the community
Akman helps nurture Manitoba’s future trades workforce. For example, we helped launch an Indigenous Employment Strategy with RRC Polytech during the construction of the Manitou a bi Bii daziigae Innovation Centre. The project aimed for 20% Indigenous participation. Together, we exceeded that goal with approximately 45% Indigenous representation on site. Akman also founded a scholarship program to support RRC Polytech students enrolled in sustainability and environmental studies.
