Derek joined Akman Construction in 2011 as a cost estimator. Using his 3D modeling expertise, he created systems to track projects through design, tender, and construction. These methods are crucial to Akman’s pre-construction design and budget development. Derek identifies the best trades based on price, flexibility, capability, and quality. His strong relationships with trades arise from his reputation for honesty and integrity; they trust him and provide reliable information.

Derek holds a diploma with honors in Structural Engineering from RRC Polytech and studied Environmental Design/Architecture at the University of Manitoba, where he became proficient in CAD and 3D modeling. He refined these skills as a draftsman with a design/build firm for seven years before joining Akman Construction.
