The Smith Street Lofts project is a major revitalization of the former Manitoba Housing building at 185 Smith Street in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The building was transformed into a modern mixed-use apartment building with double-story loft apartments. Smith Street Lofts comprises 18 floors of residential units and 2 floors of commercial/active/amenity space. An 8-story precast parkade supports the apartment building.
During construction, 60% of the exterior masonry walls were removed and replaced with curtainwalls and balconies—a significant engineering feat.
