Akman Construction Ltd. is proud to serve as the Construction Manager for the heritage restoration and renovation of The Rubin Block, originally constructed in 1914. Our team is dedicated to delivering exceptional quality and unwavering commitment throughout every phase of this transformative project.

Working in partnership with Fisher River Cree Nation and UWCRC 2.0, this project represents the restoration of a landmark building in the heart of downtown Winnipeg that will serve as an important community asset, supporting the Nation’s vision of creating a safe, culturally grounded space for healing and connection.

This transitional housing redevelopment encompasses comprehensive hazardous material abatement, demolition of existing units, structural remediation, installation of a new elevator, and a complete roof assembly with repairs to the existing exterior façade and building envelope. The scope also includes the construction of 13 new residential units and commercial retail unit (CRU) space.

Once complete, this revitalized space will provide a safe, supportive environment where women and children can begin their journey of healing – physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
