Akman Construction has been involved in constructing two Manitoba correction facilities for the Department of Justice in partnership with MIT. The smaller of the two facilities, the 48-bed, 17,000 sq. ft. Agassiz Youth Centre, was built on the existing youth detention campus in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba. 

Additional telecommunications services and detention-grade furniture were incorporated into the project while adhering to the budget.
